03 - cronuts anyone?
What is a Cronut, you ask? Trademarked back in 2013 by the Dominique Ansel, it’s the perfect mix of the classic doughnut with light but fluffy layers of a croissant.
Unbeknownst to me, looking for a quick breakfast in the city, and stumbled upon the creators’ establishment and it was truly a gem.
When you enter the space, you are greeted by a home-like ambiance paired with the warm and that familiar baked smell in the air.
Scratch ‘n Sniff
A kitchen wrapped in subway tile and great lighting that makes the sugar crystals sparkle, the glazes shine back at you, and all the nooks and crannies shown on the surface of just a darn good pastry.
She’s dusted and pearled
At Dominque Ansel, each pastry is prepped with the utmost care and attention to detail. On this particular day, I ordered this cute Pink Berry Cronut, at least that is what I am naming it.
Disclosure: There is no set menu for the Cronuts, so to spice things up in this sweet environment, they make different flavors on a daily basis.
Layers of goodie-ness
The scale of pastry and a surprise center filled with a pistachio creme...
There is seating in a covered courtyard, located towards the back with Parisian bistro-style seating.
If you are craving a Cronut or trying it for the first time, you might as well have it at the OG spot...
